Requirements are specified, quoted, scheduled, developed and released, and while that cycle runs, the warehouse works around the software. For a manufacturer whose material supply feeds a production line, that lag is not an IT inconvenience. The team took a model-driven route instead. The physical processes, unloading, quality control, putaway, were modeled collaboratively in BPMN, with the people who actually run them at the table. From those models, executable workflows were generated automatically, and the screens the team uses on the floor were derived directly from the workflows rather than designed separately.Das Team wählte stattdessen den modellgetriebenen Weg. The clearest moment came after go-live. The operation needed a new best-before-date check with an automatic quarantine booking for failing goods. In the old environment, that requirement would have meant months of specification and deployment.
